Monica+Scott=Mammoth Lakes FUN!

Monica and Scott got hitched last month in GOR-G-OUS Convict Lake Resort in the Mammoth Lakes area of the California Sierra’s. It’s taken me WAY too long to get these up for everyone to see (broken collar bone/separated shoulder) and they’ve been more than patient with me.

It was a super fun trip to end this years wedding season and the trip was full of surprises. Surprise choreographed dances to Lady Gaga, fast moving Thunderstorms accompanied by complete downpours, flights cancelled, late night drives to Reno to catch another flight, losing money at the Black Jack tables, ghost town visits…good people, good fun.

We’re not videographers but I grabbed video of the surprise dance for Monica. Scott and Monica were going to surprise their guests by breaking into dance mid-song…but Scott surprised Monica even further when 30 or so of the guests had been practicing the dance as well…breaking into the next verse. Monica is shocked to complete stillness…vid below.

Parker | Jesuit High

We had the pleasure of meeting Parker while shooting the Jesuit Men’s Lacrosse team a few months back. So when his mom called us up for some end of the year senior portraits, we were stoked! Parker is headed off to college soon and scored a full ride scholarship playing lacrosse!! Congrats Parker! Good luck! Right now he’s gearing up for playoffs!! Go Crusaders!!

We’re gearing up to announce our softer side pretty soon, WEDDINGS!!! That’s right! Studio ESS artists Joni and Sheldon will be teaming up to tackle your big day… in style of course! We’ve been shootin’ them for years, but recently decided to make the whole thing official and commit already..er… via our site! So, in honor of the upcoming site, we’re showing you a small sample of a wedding Joni shot in Mexico last week.

Sarah and DJ are old friends, and their wedding was a long time coming. They’ve been best friends since fourth grade. It really doesn’t get any better than that. They chose Mexico for their big day, and boy was it nice to escape the Portland rain for a few days and soak up the sun! We also shot a little trash the dress session the next day. Good Stuff! Love ya guys! Congrats! Now… when’s the baby!??

Jesuit High | Lacrosse

So, this time it was the ladies turn! The seniors on the Jesuit, women’s, varsity lacrosse team came by studio Ess last week for their shoot. We cranked up the music, busted out the fancy wind blowin’ machine (aka: fan) and made the girls bring out their inner blue steel! They rocked it! We had such a good time with them, and were stoked to spend an hour with this group of awesome gals! They’re stoked for their final year of lacrosse as a crusader, but are all off to big things next year! Good luck with the season ladies!!

Last month, Simply Canvas, our amazing lab that produces are Fine-Art Gallery Wraps and a few other goodies, had a senior portrait contest on their Facebook page. We WON! Our winning image is below and we also got honorable mention on 2 others! There were over 400 entries from all over the country and we have to admit, there was a ton of good stuff. So we’re pretty honored to be noted by a leader in the industry for the quality of our senior portrait work.

In order to pay it forward, we’ll be giving away a FREE 2-hour senior portrait session at the end of April. To show off their favorite image from their session, the winner also gets a FREE 16×20 Fine-Art Gallery Wrap courtesy of Simply Canvas (we won it, why not pay it forward right?) It’s all happening via our Facebook page so the best thing to do is to head over there!

There are some requirements of course…hurry up and spread the word!

-Must be a Class of 2012 High School Senior (or be a parent of a 2012 senior)

-Must be in the Portland/NW Oregon/SW Washington region.

-Must have parent approval (which will be verified as 1st step!)

help support a great cause | kids mini sessions

April is Child Abuse Prevention month and studioESS wanted to show our love for the little ones! We’re teaming up with our good friends over at Children’s Relief Nursery (CRN) to raise money for their program during the month of April! We’ve set aside a weekend, April 16th and 17th to run a special mini-session event benefiting CRN, 50% of each $49 mini session goes directly to CRN! For those gent’s out there who have no idea what to get the wonderful mother of their children for Mother’s Day (which is quickly coming May 8th!)…what better than some fabulous portraits of the little ones all framed up and ready to deliver with her breakfast in bed on Mother’s Day? It’s a win-win. Mom get’s fabulous portraits of the kids and CRN gets some well deserved and needed funds! Sessions are limited and we’ll book up fast so call asap! 503-314-2803
